THE NEVERTHELESS SHE PERSISTED PROJECT
Part of the 2017 Detroit 3% Conference.
The motto “nevertheless she persisted” emerged this past February after Senator Elizabeth Warren refused to be silenced by an otherwise male senate. It describes women’s resistance and resilience to all the voices, barriers and boundaries that try to silence, stunt, or limit them.
Inspired by the motto and the women it describes, Mark Moreno, a Senior Designer at Doner Advertising, created the Nevertheless She Persisted project—a campaign that aims to enlighten society of persistent women, past and present, and elevate all women to the equal status they deserve. As part of the project, Mark, working under the name Mark Sarmel, features a new influential woman on social media every Wednesday.
The hope is that by highlighting women who have or are standing strong against adversity, we can inspire both men and women to see, fight, and conquer the discrimination women face today.
